Hello Quark members! Welcome to the new website system. We've opened it up for you for the next couple of days to poke at and play around with.
Your usernames and passwords should function just as they did with the old site. You also may notice that when you sign in, a few things will show up that say some of your data has been synced to SMF-- that's a good thing, and you can probably ignore it. It basically just means that it's set up your data on the forums. (Continue reading, there's more!)
Some things to be aware of: We have not been able to so far port your IM information from the old site. It is not as likely that we will do that in the future. So, if you want your IM information (AIM, MSN, gtalk, etc) to show up, you will need to enter it yourselves. To do that go to My account on the left menu, "Edit" tab from that page, then "Extra details" tab along the top of that section. There you can enter your information.
There may be some minor issues with displaying your signature outside of the forum. That's something that will be fixed in the near future.
You'll notice that a lot of the club members have their full names displayed with their posts in the forum. This is handled by the system when they log in. Until the member logs in, their name will appear as their full name. Once they have logged in, however, the syncing will fix it to display their login name.
Your PMs have not been ported. If you wish to keep them, you will need to copy them yourself into a text editor or something similar.
Also note, after the next couple of days we will be making the final switch to the new system. Once that has been accomplished, all new posts on the old site will not be kept. Likewise, new posts on the new system before that point will likely be lost (This is subject to change-- if the move from the members happens quickly, we may not do the final post port and simply keep all posts on the new site). The old site will remain available to you to retrieve things that you need, such as your PMs for some time: the exact amount of time has not been determined yet.
If you have questions, please feel free to post a comment on this news item or ask me, Jerle, or any of the other officers any questions you might have.
